JONES + CORBIN HONOURED BY COWBOY HALL OF FAME
NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN co-stars TOMMY LEE JONES and BARRY CORBIN proved their cattle-herding credentials on Thursday (16Jan09) night when they were inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.
The pair was honoured at the ceremony in Texas by the committee, which celebrates western lifestyle and pays tribute to those who hail from all-American backgrounds.
Jones is an eighth-generation Texan who raises cattle on his ranch, while Corbin was born in Lamesa, California, but lives and ranches in Fort Worth, Texas.
And Jones, who scooped an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his role in 1993's The Fugitive, told the 600-strong audience the induction is his most prized award to date.
He explained, "This might be the first time that I've taken an award personally. This is the first time in all my long years of award-winning that I wish my granddad could be here."
Urban Cowboy star Corbin agreed with his fellow inductee - insisting it was an honour to be recognised by his "people".
He said, "An award like this is a once-in-a lifetime deal because it is recognition from my people. A lot of these awards are for saying lines good."
