JONES' ASSAULT TRIAL SET FOR JUNE
Rapper JIM JONES will stand trial this June (09) in relation to charges of assault stemming from a December (08) brawl with NE-YO's manager.
The Diplomats crewmember is facing a count of misdemeanour assault after clashing with Jayvon Smith on Christmas Eve (24Dec08) at a Louis Vuitton store in New York.
Jones, who turned down a plea deal last month (Mar09), made a brief appearance in a Manhattan court on Tuesday (21Apr09), when a judge scheduled his trial for 4 June (09).
And the rapper's lawyer, Scott Leemon, insists his client is ready to face a judge to prove he's not guilty.
Leemon tells XXL.com, "I always listen (to plea deals) but at this point we're preparing for trial."
Smith has since filed a $7 million (£4.8 million) civil suit against Jones for damages.
