JONAS: 'BRAND JOKES ARE A COMPLIMENT'

NICK JONAS can't wait to hear what racy comedian RUSSELL BRAND has in store for him and his brothers at this year's (09) MTV Video Music Awards, after the Brit poked fun at the JONAS BROTHERS throughout last year's show.
Brand took over hosting duties for the 2008 awards ceremony and repeatedly poked fun at the pop trio for taking a vow of abstinence and wearing purity rings to demonstrate their Christian beliefs.
Producers feared he went too far with his saucy gags, and told Brand to publicly apologise to the brothers towards the end of the show.
But the Love Bug hitmakers weren't offended, and Nick admits he found it strangely complimentary to be targetted by the Brit.
He says, "As far as his comments were concerned, what we said from the beginning was that he seemed to run out of material - but if we're the butt of his jokes, it's kind of a compliment in a bizarre way."
The Jonas Brothers will not be attending the annual ceremony later this month (13Sep09) as they are not nominated. Nick Jonas insists their decision not to take part has nothing to do with Brand, who will serve as presenter for a second year running.
Jonas says, "(The hosting job) is great for him. He has form and ultimately he does a great job."
