JOLIE PRESENTS AWARD TO FRIEND PEARL

Actress ANGELINA JOLIE presented her journalist friend MARIANE PEARL with the Fern Holland Award at the Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Monday (07Apr08).
Jolie became pals with the reporter when she portrayed her in the movie version of her book A Mighty Heart.
And the actress took the opportunity to praise Pearl for her "courage, hope and tolerance".
Pearl, whose journalist husband Daniel Pearl was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002, repaid Jolie's compliment when she described the star as "a sister" in her acceptance speech.
The Fern Holland Award is named after a young American who was killed while working in Iraq to help improve the lives of women.
