JOHNSON: 'MONEY LAUNDERING STORY SET A NEW RECORD'
Former MIAMI VICE star DON JOHNSON is no longer shocked when ludicrous stories about him are published, after he was said to have been involved in an $8 billion money laundering ring in 2003.
The 57-year-old actor was simply checked by German officials at a border, before he was allowed to go on his way.
However, because of a security leak the erroneous story emerged months later causing the film he was planning to make to get scrapped.
He says, "That whole story was rubbish. I was in a car with some other gentlemen, driving from Zurich. One of the guys had bank statements with him because we were talking about making a film and he had to show proof of funds.
"We were stopped. I signed autographs and five months later probably one of the border guards got talking in the pub somewhere. Then it all got twisted up and the next thing I know it's all around the world.
"Have you any idea what $8 billion would look like? They took a routine incident and blow it up and caused me unbelievable difficulty."
