JOHNSON: 'I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE'

FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD frontman HOLLY JOHNSON feels "lucky" to be alive after 18 years battling HIV.
The Relax singer struggled with ill health for five years before medication to combat his condition was made available in 1996.
And he is thankful he's managed to survive so long - because many of his close pals from his 1980s heyday have since died.
He says, "I'm very well. Combination therapy has its side effects but I'm just really grateful to be alive. So many of my friends from that period aren't. When I see the original Relax video it's quite sad because a lot of my friends are in it that are no longer with us. But I was one of the lucky ones to be thriving and surviving."
