JOHNSON: `I DON'T WANT TO BE PRESIDENT'

Surfer-turned-rocker JACK JOHNSON has denied reports he's planning to take his green ideas into politics - because he doesn't want to become the next AL GORE. The singer-songwriter has expressed his admiration for all environmentalist Gore is doing because it echoes issues he has been talking about for years. But, now America is getting greener, some politicians and journalists are interested in what Johnson might have to say if he was to take a break from music and run for office. The self-confessed hippie rocker tells Outside magazine, "I'm not trying to act like I've got all the answers and that I'm greener than everyone else. I want to do what I can to help, but sometimes it starts to overwhelm me. "It's hard, because as soon as you put your voice in there, all of a sudden you're the guy the newspaper wants to talk to. I accept the fact that I'm a somewhat known personality now and I like that I can use it for good things, but I ultimately don't want to run for president."
