JOEL ATTENDS HIS OWN TRIBUTE CONCERT

Legendary piano man BILLY JOEL stunned fans when he turned up to a concert of classical versions of his own hits. Joel joined the audience at Heckscher Park in Long Island, New York on Friday (11AUG06), where pianist RICHARD JOO had arranged Joel's hits in the classical style. Halfway through the gig, THE NEW YORK STATE OF MIND star strolled onto the stage, sat down at a piano and joined Joo for a duet. Later on the hitmaker promised to donate a piano for the Huntingdon Arts Council, who sponsored the show, adding, "I'm known for my philanthropy and I'm going to buy them a new piano."
