JOAQUIN PHOENIX COLLABORATES WITH CHARLATAN'S FRONTMAN

The CHARLATANS frontman TIM BURGESS has been collaborating with actor JOAQUIN PHOENIX on a new project.

Along with ANTHONY LANGDON of SPACEHOG, the two have been working on some tracks in the studio, with the help of the CHARLATANS' manager Alan McGee.

Speaking to NME magazine, Burgess said: "Joaquin wrote the songs, Antony sang and I did backing vocals.

"It's been a great time. Music is really important to Joaquin."

He added that the collaboration began last summer and that it could go on for quite a while as Joaquin is a perfectionist, saying: "His songs are great - I really hope they come out".

In a separate interview with Billboard, Burgess revealed that he thinks music has allowed Joaquin to expel his demons.

Joaquin has previously shown off his musical abilities in the film WALK THE LINE, for which he was Oscar nominated.

Currently the actor's latest movie TWO LOVERS, which co-stars GWYNETH PALTROW and VINESSA SHAW, is showing at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.

It is directed by James Grey, who Phoenix worked with on WE OWN THE NIGHT.
