Former pop singer Jo O'Meara has called for reality TV show Big Brother to be axed.

The Celebrity Big Brother contestant unwittingly found herself facing allegations of racist behaviour during the recent series and is struggling to deal with the aftermath of her foray into reality TV.

O'Meara, Jade Goody and model Danielle Lloyd created an international diplomatic incident by making allegedly derogatory remarks to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.

She issued a 900-word statement expressing her regret about the incident last week but told Sky News this morning that, to an extent, the show itself was to blame.

"I feel if this is what a TV show does to people then it shouldn't be a TV show," she said.

"I have got to pick the pieces up or I will end up going mad - more mad than I am. I don't think you can get much lower. They say you have to hit rock bottom before you can build yourself up. I just hope I'm at the bottom now."

Last week the former S Club 7 star broke down in tears in an appearance on the GMTV show.
