JETT TRAVOLTA BATTLED DEADLY SEIZURES FOR YEARS
JOHN TRAVOLTA's tragic son JETT suffered from "frequent and extremely serious" seizures, the family's lawyer has confirmed.
The 16-year-old died on Friday (02Jan09) at the Travolta family's holiday retreat in the Bahamas after reportedly hitting his head on a bathtub.
The accident triggered a seizure, which cost the teenager his life.
Travolta's lawyer Michael Ossi tells TMZ.com that Jett's seizures were "like a death" each time, adding the youngster often lost consciousness.
The website reveals Jett had been taking a drug called Depakote, a strong anti-seizure medication, in an effort to control his fits, which, at their height, happened on an average of every four days.
According to Ossi, Jett took Depakote for "several years," but the medication eventually lost its effectiveness, and "it began to
cause serious physical damage" including damage to Jett's liver.
TMZ.com claims that Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston stopped administering the drug after consulting neurosurgeons.
