THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN performed their first gig in nine years on Thursday (26Apr07) - although reports actress SCARLETT JOHANSSON was to duet with the cult rockers proved unfounded. The British band played the Glass House venue in Pomona, California, in what was billed as a warm-up concert for tonight's (28Apr07) appearance at the Coachella Festival. Giant Drag singer Annie Hardy sang the female vocals on Just Like Honey, and not Johansson as had been reported. At one point, frontman Jim Reid asked, "Happy we're back?" When the crowd cheered enthusiastically, he added, "F**k off."
