JERMAINE JACKSON 'WISHES' HE DIED INSTEAD OF MICHAEL

JERMAINE JACKSON fought back tears on U.S. TV on Thursday morning (02Jul09) as he recalled seeing his brother MICHAEL lying lifeless in hospital - and admitted he "wished" he was the one who had died.
In the grieving family's first official interview since the sudden passing of the Thriller hitmaker last week (25Jun09), Jermaine described how "empty" he felt as he came to terms with the shocking news.
Speaking on the Today show, he said, "There's nothing that can compare to this. We lost our brother, our healer. The world is mourning, we are mourning, the fans are mourning, it's unbelievable.
"I wanted to see Michael and see my brother. Seeing him lifeless and breathless was very emotional for me, but I held myself together because I knew he was very much alive and his spirit (lives on). It (his body) was just a shell.
"I kissed him on his forehead, I hugged him and I touched him and I said to him, 'Michael, I'll never ever leave you. You'll never leave me.' I felt really, really empty."
And Jermaine, who is Muslim, admits he would give anything to trade places with his younger brother so that Michael could continue his "good" work on this earth.
He adds, "This sounds strange but... I wish it was me because I always felt that I was his backbone. Someone to be there for him. Things he couldn't say, I would say them.
"Michael is a gift from Allah and He has taken him back. The world didn't appreciate him. The world loved him, but certain people, certain industries, didn't appreciate him.
"His time on this earth, he did good for everyone. He saw the good in people who were claimed to be bad, but he wanted to change things. He sent messages through his songs, through his lyrics, through his actions, going to hospitals, going to orphanages trying to cure children of cancer, trying to bring them enlightenment."
Jackson died after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 50.

This comment is to downtoearth I don't think any one should try to judge the members of Michael Jackson's family. We don't really know the truth of their relationships with each other or their life as they were growing up. He know the conflicting stories we were told over the years. I do have to say that Jermaine is right he has always stood up for Michael. He's been the one to speak out in his defense. He is still defending him in his death. God knows the truth and the rest of us should be supporting the family and especially his children. Ragging Michael will not help his children in their healing process. I beleive we should all thank God that we are still here and should be making amends with the people in our lives so we won't have any regrets if one of our love ones passes on. I think we should be cleaning our own homes instead of trying to judge and clean up someone else especially if we don't them or their circumstances. With Love and Respect to Jermaine and his family Totallytree

Everything's easily said than done AFTER that special person's no longer around to appreciate/deny it...where was Jermaine while Michael went through hell every day of his life - right from the whuppings of dad Joseph in his childhood, down to the so-called "enablers" who surrounded him & literally drove him to an earlier grave.A word of caution to Jermaine: look after your remaining siblings/their families more closely from now on so you may not have to use the same sentence 'it should have been me' again in the future.. The only truth in his statement remains the fact that Michael was indeed never appreciated in this world, and is probably at peace wherever the souls of such good people end up - heaven, maybe? Hell was his life here on earth, so heaven it should deservingly be... The lyrics of his song..."a lot of people misunderstand me,because they just don't know me..." ring so true.. The world never left him in peace while alive, at least let him Rest In Peace...
