JAY-Z has entered the London soccer wars again after restating he is interested in investing in Barclays Premier League club Arsenal.
Just a week after fellow rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs was linked to fellow London club Crystal Palace, Jay-Z has refuelled gossip he's ready to take on a role at Arsenal.
In a new interview with the club's leading fanzine, the 99 Problems hitmaker has revealed he's a big Arsenal fan and has been since the days of the club's French star Thierry Henry.
He says, "It was about five years ago now. When Thierry Henry was at the club I saw him play and I just thought he was an amazing player.
"Ever since then I have been a big fan of the club... I think he had a real long term-effect on the team."
And the rapper, who co-owns U.S. basketball team the New Jersey Nets, admits he's always looking to invest in a good sporting franchise.
He adds, "I am a businessman, and I will always look at an opportunity... I don’t know a lot about the business of soccer, but in the future if the right opportunity presented itself, then who knows?"
Last week (ends19Mar10), Brendan Guilfoyle - an administrator for bankrupt Crystal Palace - went public with Diddy's interest in the team, stating, "I would be delighted if P. Diddy wanted to buy Crystal Palace. I would welcome an approach and would willingly fly to New York to discuss purchase."
