JAY-Z JETTED IN FOR MTV AWARDS FROM COLDPLAY SHOW

JAY-Z was a late arrival at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Sunday (13Sep09) because he had to jet across the Atlantic to be there after joining pal CHRIS MARTIN for a COLDPLAY gig in Britain on Saturday (12Sep09).
Fresh from his star-studded 9/11 tribute gig at the Big Apple's Madison Square Garden on Friday night (11Sep09), the rap superstar jumped on a plane bound for Manchester, England to make a surprise appearance at a Coldplay concert.
The Viva La Vida hitmakers stunned fans when they brought Jay-Z out on stage for a brief set at the Lancashire County Cricket Club on the opening night of their U.K. tour.
But, as soon as the show was over, an exhausted Jay-Z was back in the air, jetting home to New York to close out the MTV awards.
The rapper pulled up to Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall just moments before his finale performance, climbing out of his luxury black Maybach car and walking straight onto the stage to perform his Alicia Keys collaboration, Empire State of Mind.
