JAY-Z ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR INAUGURATION CONCERT
Rapper JAY-Z is set to team up with concert promoter Live Nation to play a special one-off concert to celebrate U.S. President-elect BARACK OBAMA's inauguration into the White House.
The 99 Problems hitmaker has announced plans for an "intimate performance" in Washington, D.C. on 19 January (09) - the day before the Democrat is sworn into office.
Jay-Z will take to the stage at the city's 1,847-capacity Warner Theater, where he will perform with a full band.
And the star has vowed to play the set, entitled 'In Concert on the Eve of Change', for his fans - tickets will be open to the public on Friday (09Jan09).
The hip-hop icon was a staunch supporter of the politician throughout his historic election, frequently showing video images of Obama throughout his Heart of the City tour with Mary J. Blige.
And Jay-Z won't be the only star performing in celebration of Obama's inauguration - Rihanna, Sting and Kanye West are all reportedly playing gigs on the eve of 20 January (09).
