JAPE LANDS CHOICE MUSIC PRIZE
Singer/songwriter JAPE has landed Ireland's most prestigious music award - triumphing over THE SCRIPT to win the coveted Choice Music Prize.
The Dublin, Ireland-based musician's third album, Ritual, was named Ireland's best record from 2008 at a ceremony in the Irish capital on Wednesday (04Mar09) night.
The Choice Prize, now in its fourth year, is selected by a panel of Irish music and media professionals and known for rewarding critical acclaim rather than commercial sales.
Jape - real name Richie Egan - beat out competition from nine other nominees, including rockers The Script, who have enjoyed chart success in the U.K. and the rest of Europe with their self-titled debut album.
