JANEKE TO DIRECT REMAKE OF HIS MOST CONTROVERSIAL FILM

Austrian director MICHAEL JANEKE will direct a Hollywood remake of his controversial 1997 movie FUNNY GAMES, starring TIM ROTH and NAOMI WATTS. Funny Games was nominated for the Palme D'Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival in France, and while it was a success at the European box office it barely registered in the US. It is unknown whether Janeke will tone down the violent scenes of torture that characterised the original movie, and divided critics, in his remake.
