JAMES TURNED DOWN 'ORDINARY' COLDPLAY
BLUR star ALEX JAMES turned down the chance to sign COLDPLAY - because he believed they were too "ordinary".
The bassist set up a record label with friends in the 1990s, but declined the opportunity to sign up Chris Martin's fourpiece.
Coldplay have since gone on to become one of the biggest bands in the world - but James doesn't regret his decision, as he still believes they are an average band.
He tells U.K. newspaper The Sun, "I went to see Coldplay with Damien Hurst and Joe Strummer - my fellow record company executives - and we all thought they were ordinary and passed on them.
"I think everyone did, except Parlophone, just like happened with The Beatles - and Blur. Then again, I still think Coldplay are a fairly ordinary band, although the singer is good."
