JAMES BROWN'S 'SON' TO TAKE DNA TEST

JAMES BROWN's widow TOMI RAE HYNIE has been ordered by a U.S. judge to submit her six-year-old son for DNA tests, to prove the late soul singer fathered the child.
The Godfather of Soul died on Christmas Day (25Dec) in 2006, leaving the majority of his estate to trusts and charities.
But Hynie and the legend's six grown-up children are contesting the will, which failed to accommodate, or even mention, his wife or her son James Brown II.
The estate's trustees have questioned whether Brown II is one of the late star's offspring, and a South Carolina judge ruled this week (ends25Apr08) that the child must undergo DNA tests to determine whether he is the singer's legitimate heir.
But, Peter Shahid, the court-appointed lawyer for the child, claims the boy has already been receiving insurance benefits since Brown's death.
He added, "We have writings that he (Brown) has signed indicating that this is his son. He talks lovingly of his child. So all indications are this is the son of James Brown."
Brown II has 30 days to take the DNA test.
Meanwhile, Brown's family are still fighting trustees of his estate over the soul man's fortune, after accusing them of misappropriating funds to the tune of $7 million (GBP3.5 million).
