JADAKISS RELEASED ON BAIL

LATEST: Rapper JADAKISS has been released from jail following his arrest on suspicion of drug and weapon possession after posting $5,000 (GBP2,800) bail. Police allegedly found a loaded handgun and marijuana inside the hip-hop star's car after a routine stop-and-search in New York on Saturday (07OCT06), and he spent three days behind bars. In a phone interview with New York radio station Hot 97 yesterday (10OCT06), the rapper, real name JASON PHILLIPS, insisted he was fine and continued to deny the charges. He told host ANGIE MARTINEZ, "I was outside the car. The car was locked. You figure it out." However, he added, "I should have been home sleeping, getting ready to do the 'VH1 Hip-Hop Honors' with STYLES P. Instead, I was in the 'hood, being a knucklehead." Jadakiss is due back in court on 20 October (06).
