JACKSON SONG GUILTY OF PLAGIARISM

MICHAEL JACKSON has lost the rights to his song YOU ARE NOT ALONE - because a European court has ruled the R. KELLY-penned 1995 track is "largely similar" to one written by Belgian twins two years before (93). A Brussels court ruled on Tuesday (11Sep07) that rights to Jackson's hit single will now be transferred over to brothers Eddy and Danny Van Passel - but the order will only be applied in Belgium, reports gossip website TheCelebrityTruth.com. In a court document investigating the plagiarism case, it states: "The largest part of the melody is identical. There is a strong similarity." However, the twin composers - who have been fighting to gain recognition for their work for the last 12 years - are likely to find it difficult getting their hands on the song royalties, because of the length of time which has passed since the single's release. You Are Not Alone was released in August 1995 and became the first ever single to debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
