JACKSON MOVIE USES OLD MATERIAL
MICHAEL JACKSON's vocal on concert rehearsal movie THIS IS IT has been enhanced by old recordings of his songs.
The film, which features footage of the King Of Pop practising for his ill-fated comeback shows, has taken more than $200 million (£125 million) at the worldwide box office.
Music experts claim Jackson's strong singing is down to clever editing, with former BBC senior studio manager Andrew Rose insisting footage of the Thriller icon belting out Earth Song is fake.
He says the performance vocal has been lifted from a demo available on YouTube.com, adding: "Throughout the film sudden changes in vocal timbre suggest the dropping in of older recordings which may have required significant digital manipulation to fit the new live backing."
And now bosses at Sony Pictures, who produced the picture, admit they were forced to use old Jackson performances to aid the sound quality of the footage.
Spokesman Jim Kennedy says, "In order to fulfil Michael's vision for his fans and his children... the filmmakers had to incorporate some pre-existing materials, including vocals, where the rehearsal footage audio was incomplete and/or inaudible.
"In addition, usage of master recordings (such as Earth Song) was credited in the end titles."

Oh, there's no rest for the weary! I, too, have appreciated Michael Jackson for
forty years and still mourn his passing. I work in the industry (often on live
performances) and understand the process. At the time of MJ's passing,
rehearsals were still at the point of staging: queing, blocking, lighting,
marking, and musical technicalities. This film was shot solely for reference.
No credible performer would burn their energy or vocal chords during this
phase, especially at 50, and anticipating performing 50 shows over months.
Runners pace themselves similarly. Full dress and technical rehearsals would
happen at the O2, and even then there would still be some vocal restraint.
Whether or not some vocals were overlaid in 'This Is It', it was clear from
scenes such as the spontaneous 'rally' between Jackson and the female vocalist,
that he still had command of his abilities. Think how disappointing it would be
if the last film of this icon contained partially inaudible vocals. No matter
what, my hat's off to Jackson, and thank you to the makers of this film.
So.... And.... Who doesnt do that in concert, on recordings. I am going to
see This Is It for the 4th time & he was fantastic. It has happened before &
probably will again. I know for a fact Michael was as good as ever. He was
the best & was still in best form THis was a rehearsal people seem to forget.
He wasnt suppose to go all out because he was saving his voice for the tour.
Almost every artist does that. We all know this was a rehearsal. He was as
good as ever but because it is Michael it has to be made negative. I dont
think there was that much the way they make it sound because I have heard
Michael before. I know Earth Song wasnt & many others but I dont care No
matter what the media does I know what MIchael was to me for 40 years & I will
always think of him as the best. I would bet my life on it & love him most (as
he says) I hope maybe to see him again to tell him how much he meant to me He
is & always will be the best
