JACKSON IN $214 MILLION RESIDENCY TALKS
MICHAEL JACKSON is in talks to sign a $214.5 million (£150 million) deal to stage 30 concerts in London, according to reports.
The King of Pop's last major tour was in 1996, and his most recent album, Invincible, was released eight years ago in 2001.
He has become a virtual recluse since he was cleared of child abuse allegations in 2005.
Reports in October (08) suggested the Thriller hitmaker would hit the road this year (09) for a major world tour.
And he is set to sign up for a mammoth stint at London's O2 Arena in July (09), which could net him $7.15 million (£5 million) per show, reports Britain's The Sun newspaper.
A source tells the publication, “It’s his last chance to hit the jackpot so he can pay a large slice of his debts. Michael feels enough time has passed for the public to forgive the scandals.”
A spokeswoman for his agents, the Outside Organisation, adds, “It is only at discussion stage but if it comes off it will be amazing.”
