JACKSON GRIEF CUT FROM THIS IS IT

Footage of MICHAEL JACKSON's dancers and crewmembers coping with the news of the King of Pop's death on 25 June (09) was cut from new concert rehearsal movie THIS IS IT - because director KENNY ORTEGA felt it was inappropriate.
Cameras rolled as Ortega and all those awaiting Jackson's arrival at rehearsals first heard about the tragedy and the filmmaker admits there were initial considerations about using it.
He says, "We decided... and received the full support of everyone involved... to not make it about that. In the end, what we wanted to do was make it a legacy piece to honour Michael, the genius behind This Is It.
"I just didn't wanna make this about anything other than his incredible enthusiasm and what his dreams and plans for the show were. I wanted this to be life affirming, so we decided to draw back from that, which we felt was a story that had been exploited enough."
This Is It opened in cinemas around the world overnight.

I just got back home from seeing "THIS IS IT" and this movie...did just what Kenny Ortega hoped it would do...it is indeed what he has hoped!! It is indeed, from my viewpoint, a legacy film strictly about Michael Jackson and his genius, his LOVE, his purity of spirit!! It's an extraordinary documentary film about Michael Jackson's soul, this beautiful, amazing and extraordinarily talented man and his vision for the upcoming shows that would have been "This Is It". A rare glimpse of Michael at work, doing what he did better than anyone out there, and doing it with such grace, dignity and LOVE for all of those that were with him on the journey. It is indeed a legacy piece, and no doubt this movie will illuminate for those who might still be "in the dark" about the TRUE nature of this man...the soul of this man named Michael Jackson that was the kindest and most loving person that we could have ever imagined. A perfectionist about his craft, but guided and lead his players with a GENUINELY loving and kind spirit and heart. Tears streamed down my face at the end of this movie...still streaming now...as the realization hit me that Michael Jackson left our planet with his PURE, LOVING, GRACIOUS AND GENTLE spirit fully intact, despite the many ugly experiences he had been called upon to live thru at the hands of the UGLY people of the world!!! His soul remained pure and gentle...and he continued, and will ALWAYS continue to spread his message of LOVE AND PEACE!!!! I LOVE YOU MICHAEL JACKSON...and hope and pray that this message you have left us with will continue to enlighten the world...I GOT YOUR MESSAGE, I appreciate your gifts, and with your inspiration I will march forward on my own journey, with a torch lit in your memory and honor for the rest of my days on this planet. This is an important documentary for all of us to see...to LEARN from this genius and musical icon. What Michael Jackson was about was MUCH greater than music. "This IS IT"...makes it abundantly clear!!
