JACKSON DOCTOR IN TROUBLE OVER SKIPPED COURT HEARING
MICHAEL JACKSON's personal physician DR. CONRAD MURRAY is facing a spell behind bars after failing to attend a court hearing over child support.
The doctor was expected to show up at a Las Vegas Family Law court on Wednesday (07Oct09) to answer allegations he owes Nenita Malibirian, the mother of his son, more than $13,000 (£8,670) in support payments.
Murray did not show up for the hearing and now prosecutors are seeking a bench warrant for his arrest.
Officials from the District Attorney's office are also looking to suspend Murray's medical licence, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The arrest warrant will have to be signed off by a district judge before it can be enforced by police.
The child support battle is not Murray's only legal woe - investigators looking into Jackson's death have focused their case on the medic, who stands accused of administering the powerful prescription drug Propofol to the superstar the night before he died (24Jun09).
Los Angeles authorities have yet to file any charges against Murray over the Thriller singer's death, which was ruled a homicide in August (09).
