JACKMAN BUYS $21 MILLION NEW YORK HOME

HUGH JACKMAN's acting success has helped him brush off the world's economic crisis - he has spent $21 million (GBP14.2 million) on a New York apartment.
The Aussie actor can now call a host of celebrities his neighbours in his new West Village apartment - home to the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Gisele Bundchen and Liv Tyler.
The 11,000-square-foot space boasts a double-height living room overlooking the Hudson River, five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, two powder rooms, a professional kitchen, a 51-by-16-foot master bedroom, exercise, recreation and music rooms, a library, and multiple terraces.
But the hefty price tag was agreed upon only after Jackman, who had been renting a home in the building, talked down owners from the original asking price - a whopping $40 million (GBP26.9 million).
Listing broker Roger Erickson of Sotheby's had no comment.
