JACK WHITE'S 'ACCIDENTAL' NEW BAND
Jack White didn't plan to form new group The Dead Weather - which also features Dean Fertita, Alison Mosshart and Jack Lawrence - and insists it was a "happy accident".
Jack White says his new band was a "happy accident".
The White Stripes frontman recently formed The Dead Weather and although he had no desire to start another group he felt it was the right thing to do.
He said: "It was a happy accident. Everybody involved really inspired each other. If we're hanging out and it's really working, it's unfair for me to say, 'OK sorry. I have this other successful band. Sorry, too busy.' That would be a shame."
The Dead Weather features Jack's Raconteurs bandmate Jack Lawrence, Queens of the Stone Age star Dean Fertita and The Kills singer Alison Mosshart.
Jack - who is also part of The White Stripes - feared he wouldn't be taken seriously as a musician because he is involved in so many projects.
He added to Uncut magazine: "There was a self-consciousness, I think, but it was after the fact. When we started we didn't even know we were making a record or starting a band. But when you're finishing a project you remember, 'Oh that's right, we have to release this to the lions now.' And people are going to say, 'Oh right, they're both in two-piece guy/girl bands.' They're going to think we did it on purpose."
