ITALIAN DESIGNERS IN WEBSITE LEAK CONTROVERSY
An income tax website has been forced to shut down after publishing the earnings, addresses and birth dates of high profile Italians including fashion designers DONTATELLA VERSACE and GIORGIO ARMANI.
Italian authorities posted the information as part of an "open government" initiative aimed at preventing tax evasion.
But the move sparked fury after personal and confidential information was revealed on the site.
Versace's annual income was revealed to be a surprisingly low $3.4 million (GBP1.7 million) while Versace reportedly earns $70 million (GBP35 million) a year.
Dolce + Gabbana creators Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbano were also affected by the leak, with their income reported to be $46 million (GBP23 million) a piece.
