ILLNESS FORCES INTERPOL TO CANCEL GIG
New York band Interpol were forced to cancel a gig at Newcastle Academy last night after a member of the band was unwell.
Bassist Carlos D was struck down with illness before the show kicked off and fans already in the venue were told the unfortunate news over the PA system.
A spokesman for EMI said that although Carlos D had been too unwell to play, he was now better and all other gigs would be "going ahead as planned".
A statement on Interpol's website noted that when one member becomes ill, it goes without saying that the band cannot play.
"Deepest regrets go out to Newcastle," the statement read. "One of four have fallen ill - needless to explain that minus one [equals] zero Interpol."
The band's new single, Mammoth, is released on September 9th following on from the success of their album Our Love To Admire.
Interpol's third album peaked in the UK charts at number two and includes the single Heinrich Maneuver.
