IDOL GIVE FOX RARE THURSDAY WIN
A Thursday edition of American Idol gave Fox a rare Thursday ratings victory. Although "only" 24.7 million viewers tuned in -- low by Idol standards but remarkable by any other -- the talent contest proved stronger than any entertainment program Fox has ever programmed during its 8 00 p.m. slot on Thursdays. Idol also boosted the numbers for the season premiere of Hell's Kitchen at 9 00 p.m., which recorded 11.08 million viewers and placed second behind CBS's CSI Crime Scene Investigation , which drew 20.08 million viewers despite the recent departure of star William L. Petersen and his replacement by Laurence Fishburne. A night of repeats on NBC saw the fourth-place network register one of its lowest Thursday-night nights ever during a regular season as it averaged just 4.67 million viewers for the night.
