IDLE: 'CLASSICAL MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE'

Former MONTY PYTHON star ERIC IDLE has credited classical music with getting him through childhood. The British funnyman was enrolled into the Royal Wolverhampton School when he was just seven years old, after his father died in a road accident. Idle struggled to survive the bullying environment of the establishment, and fears he would have dropped out prematurely without music to distract him. He says, "It was a lifeline. Boarding school being a brutal place for me, I learnt to retreat into my head and music became an escape. "I can cope with almost everything now, including, I should think, prison."
