ICE CUBE BLASTS MODERN RAP
Veteran rapper ICE CUBE has slammed the state of contemporary hip-hop, insisting most performers are only interested in the "bling" lifestyle. The 37-year-old wishes more rappers would embrace political issues instead of material gain. He says, "Political rap has been pushed into the background, and rap has turned into bling party music. "Groups like PUBLIC ENEMY and KRS-ONE have no stage any more. "I've been doing this 20 years - but rap is full of bravado now, and nobody wants to listen."
