"I COULD COMPETE WITH BRITNEY", SAYS AMY ADAMS

Actress Amy Adams has joked that she has enough vocal talent to give troubled star Britney Spears a run for her money in the pop charts.

The 33-year-old, who plays singing fairytale princess Giselle in the upcoming Disney movie Enchanted, said she doesn't plan to sign a lucrative record deal, but admitted her vocals are good enough to challenge the Gimme More starlet.

"I think pop music is not my forte," Adams said. "There's probably not a pop album on the way."

But when asked if Britney could relax, she added: ""Well, actually, I can probably compete with Britney."

The Oscar-nominated actress stars alongside James Marsden and Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey in the movie - released on December 14th - as naïve, innocent Giselle, who is banished to the real world by evil queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon), where she struggles to reconcile her fairytale ideals of love with modern-day life.

And like all good Disney characters, Adams and Marsden - as the flamboyant Prince Edward - are required to burst into song frequently.

But despite neither having sung on film before, director Kevin Lima revealed he was stunned at the quality of the duo's voices.

"They were such a revelation," he admitted. "I went through the casting process not asking people if they could sing. I thought, 'Well, if they can't make that happen, that's fine'. There are other ways to solve that problem.

"Then I was so amazingly surprised when I actually got the tape, we were just blown away at these two actors, with incredible, incredible craft."
