HYNDE OPENS VEGAN RESTAURANT IN HOMETOWN

THE PRETENDERS rocker CHRISSIE HYNDE has opened a vegan restaurant in her native Akron, Ohio.
The Back On The Chain Gang singer recently returned to her hometown, where she has launched VegiTerranean.
She says, "The food is just sublime."
But she's not that sure about some items on the menu: "I didn't write the menu - I don't think I would have called it (hot dog) the Pretenders Haute Dog."
And returning home has been a great experience for the rock star: "The apartments there are about $500 a month, and that's really nice, like what the (Los Angeles hotel) Chateau Marmont used to be when it was a dump."
Hynde even celebrated her 57th birthday at home with her mum and dad, and they handed her a priceless gift from her past.
She tells Rolling Stone magazine, "My mother got me a nice vegan cake and my dad told me that all my old records were upstairs. I thought I'd lost them... It was f**king great to touch them again."
