HOWARD SHUNS HANKS' ACTING OFFERS

Actor-turned-director TOM HANKS has stopped pleading with RON HOWARD to star in one of his movies - because his attempts to cast the the filmmaker have been rejected for the last 11 years.
Former Happy Days star Howard turned down Hanks' offer to return to the small screen in 1998 TV miniseries From the Earth to the Moon - an Emmy-winning project co-produced by the pair, and co-written and co-directed by Hanks.
And The Da Vinci Code star admits he has finally given up on his dream of directing the filmmaker after several of his casting efforts were brushed off.
Hanks says, "I tried to get him to do some of the miniseries things we did. I tried to get him to come down and be in From the Earth to the Moon and he passed on a couple of things here and there. (He said), 'Hey, it's just not a good time.'"
