HOSKINS RELIEVED BY BRANDO'S DEATH
BOB HOSKINS was relieved when movie icon MARLON BRANDO died in 2004 because the tragedy scuppered a $5 million (GBP2.8 million) interview the Brit was supposed to conduct with his hero. The MONA LISA star and his production partner NORMA HEYMAN were planning a documentary about Brando, CITIZEN BRANDO, which included a chat between the two actors. Despite not having any financial backing for the project, Heyman agreed to pay Brando $5 million for the interview. Hoskins recalls, "Norma is one of those amazing people who is absolutely insane. I adore her and I do find insanity very creative. "She said, 'Bob, we're making a film with Marlon Brando. You're going to talk to Marlon Brando and he'd really like to talk to you.' "I said, 'You've got to be kidding. What am I gonna say to Marlon Brando?' "We didn't have any money and we wanted to make it cheaply but he wanted $5 million. She said, 'Go talk to him.' I tell you I must've been the only person relieved when Marlon Brando died."
