HORNSBY MAKES FILM SCORE DEBUT WITH LEE'S BASKETBALL FILM

Pop pianist BRUCE HORNSBY has signed up to score his first film - SPIKE LEE's upcoming documentary about basketball superstar KOBE BRYANT.
The Way It Is hitmaker admits he has been asked to take on music duties for dozens of movies, but has never found the right project - or the time.
But he has been working closely with Lee on the director's Kobe Doin' Work, which is slated to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on 25 April (09).
The Grammy winner tells Billboard.com, "It turned out to be a natural process. It was like an open canvas to throw paint on; I felt very free musically."
Lee, a huge basketball fan, was so impressed with Hornsby's efforts for his film, he included almost 40 minutes of music, instead of the 10 he had planned.
And the film will kick start a big year at the movies for Hornsby, who has a cameo in Robin Williams' upcoming comedy World's Greatest Dad. His music will also feature in that film.
