HONG KONG STAR LAU APOLOGISES FOR MARRIAGE LIE

Hong Kong actor ANDY LAU has apologised for keeping his marriage a secret, admitting he behaved "inappropriately".
Lau went on national TV in February (09) and denied he was married, but last month (Aug09) leaked records from the Clark County Recorder's Office in Nevada proved he wed Malaysian girlfriend Carol Chu in June 2008.
The 47 year old posted a message on his website over the weekend (29Aug09) insisting he did not confirm the union because he wanted to shield Chu from unwanted press attention.
And on Tuesday (01Sept09) he apologised to fans for deceiving them over the cover-up - and begged for their forgiveness.
He says, "My recent behaviour amounts to a lie. It disappointed many people. Because I'm a public figure, I think I should publicly apologise to everyone who believed me. I hope everyone will forgive me."
