HOLLYWOOD'S LITTLE HELPERS SPREAD SOME CHRISTMAS CHEER

Hollywood celebrities are helping to spread a little joy over the festive season and becoming involved in a number of charity events.

A-list couple ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT opted to spend Christmas away from the bright-lights of the city and the traditional family Christmas dinner, preferring to travel to San Jose, Costa Rica to help hand out gifts to local refugee children instead.

"We had a wonderful Christmas both with the Costa Rican people and the Colombian refugee families we met," JOLIE said in a statement.

She added: "My Christmas message to Colombian refugees and to the millions of displaced people in Colombia is that the world has not totally forgotten them."

Last year, the famous couple spent Christmas helping victims of the earthquake in Pakistan and their charity efforts are helping to encourage a number of other stars to use their high-profile image to help encourage and support a number of charities throughout the world.

For example, the unlikely pairing of GEORGE CLOONEY and PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH SNR made an appearance on a US breakfast show to announce plans to rebuild a hospital in Louisiana, which was destroyed during the onslaught of Hurricane Rita in September 2005.

In particular, the two Georges were keen to stress that the residents of the region still need charitable support if they are to complete the rebuilding of much needed infrastructure and facilities
