HOLLYWOOD SHARPSHOOTER BOWMAN DIES

Hollywood sharpshooter JOE BOWMAN has died after suffering a heart attack at the age of 84.
Bowman, who stunned American audiences with his skilled pistol and rifle tricks, died on 29 June (09) in Junction, Texas.
His service in the U.S. Army and earned high military honours, including three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart, before training police SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) teams and officials at the F.B.I. (Federal Bureau of Investigation).
After leaving the Army, he launched the Bowman and DeGeorge Boot Shop, a venture specialising in gunsmith tools which attracted the attention of stars including Roy Rogers and Sammy Davis Jr.
Bowman was perhaps best-known for training actors - he coached Robert Duvall in quick-draw and sharpshooting for his role in 1989 TV western Lonesome Dove. The gunman also enjoyed a minor role of his own in 1986 drama Handgun.
Bowman is survived by his wife, Betty Reid-Bowman, his son Mark, a daughter Jan Bowman, and his brother, Mark M. Bowman Jr.
