HEIGL PRAISES KNIGHT'S DIGNIFIED SILENCE

KATHERINE HEIGL has praised her GREY'S ANATOMY co-star T.R. KNIGHT for the "dignified" way in which he handled the ISAIAH WASHINGTON controversy. Washington was fired from the U.S. TV show earlier this year (07) - after using a homophobic slur during an onset row with Patrick Dempsey which prompted Knight to 'come out' as a homosexual. And Heigl now believes her best friend Knight's refusal to talk about the matter was the best way of handling the situation. She says, "It wasn't even me who (Washington) was talking about, but I felt so infuriated and angry because that was the only opinion getting heard. Shouldn't T.R. have something to say? "But he was right. To say nothing at all is the most dignified thing he could do for himself and for what really happened that day and for the whole situation. And it speaks volumes."
