HAWK'S WIFE SPENDS U.S. MOTHER'S DAY IN HOSPITAL

Skateboarding legend TONY HAWK's wife LHOTSE MERRIAM had a lucky escape on Sunday (10May09) after almost losing her hand when her fingers got "crushed" in an automatic gate.
Merriam, mum to Hawk's 11-month-old daughter Kadence, had to be whisked to the emergency room (ER) after the accident at their California home, which occurred on U.S. Mother's Day.
Writing about the mishap on Twitter.com, Hawk blogs, "Mother's Day has just become Motherf**ker Day. L (Lhotse) crushed her hand in our automatic gate. I hope they have a nice brunch buffet at the hospital."
Merriam suffered a broken finger - but the injury could have been a lot worse had it not been for her platinum wedding and engagement rings, which jammed the gate, forcing it to stop.
Hawks adds, "Multiple fractures to L's ring finger. Her rings wedged and saved the rest of her hand."
