HATHAWAY'S TOOTHACHE SOURS LANCOME LAUNCH

Actress ANNE HATHAWAY was heartbroken when her dreams of grandeur as the new face of Lancome turned sour after she broke a tooth just before the launch of her new fragrance.
The Devil Wears Prada beauty, 25, was elated after she was named the new face of an advertising campaign by the cosmetics giant for its fragrance Magnifique.
But her dreams of a chic Parisian launch stalled when the actress' addiction to chewing gum sent her on a disastrous trip to the dentist.
She says, "I broke a molar while I was (in Paris), like, the day before the launch. I thought maybe I would be OK and I went out to dinner and I realised during dinner the nerve was exposed, so I had to go to a dentist.
"I'm in France and I don't speak French and it was a big disaster. I brought my tooth, in case that was helpful... I realised eventually (the dentist) wanted to reattach my tooth. And I'm like, `Is that a French thing?' I mean I'm an actress what do I know about dentistry?"
But Hathaway was put to ease when she realised the doctor merely wanted to fill her tooth to repair the damage.
She muses, "Other than that Paris was very chic."
