HASSELHOFF UNDER INVOLUNTARY PSYCHIATRIC HOLD - REPORT
DAVID HASSELHOFF is under an involuntary psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a seizure on Friday (27Nov09), according to a U.S. report.
The Baywatch star's daughter, Hayley, called emergency services when her father fell ill and he was reportedly taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
According to RadarOnline.com, he is being held under the California Welfare and Institutions Code 5150, which allows authorities to take into custody those they believe may be a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder.
He is expected to remain there under a 72-hour hold.
A spokesperson for the L.A. City Fire Department confirms: "Paramedics were called to (a house) in Encino for medical aid. Paramedics arrived at approximately 11.51 am and later transported the patient a nearby hospital."
The 57 year old, who has a long history of alcoholism, had allegedly been drinking in the last week and saw one of his personal doctors on Wednesday (25Nov09) after returning from a trip to Canada.
Just last October (09), Hasselhoff was admitted to rehab amid reports he accidentally hit a doctor during a booze binge. He has also been hospitalised on two separate occasions this year (09), reportedly suffering from alcohol poisoning.
