HASSELHOFF POKES FUN AT HIS OWN DRUNKEN MISHAP

DAVID HASSELHOFF poked fun at himself while launching the new season of America's Got Talent in Hollywood on Monday (14May07) by joking about a new T-shirt line. The actor, who is among the judges on the talent show, was shooting a segment for the summer series when he cracked, "I have a new T-shirt line - Hoff the rocks." The quip was in response to a video of a drunk Hasselhoff growling abuse at his teenage daughter, which made headlines around the world earlier this month (May07). Speaking before a studio audience at the America's Got Talent launch, the Baywatch creator addressed the footage, which was shot by his daughter Taylor Ann, which also showed him struggling to eat a burger. He joked, "I'm going to have a cheeseburger for lunch." But game-for-a-laugh Hasselhoff did get serious briefly when he thanked his friends on the talent show for their support. He added, "The support I've gotten from everyone around the world, including these cats over here, has been phenomenal." Fellow judge Sharon Osbourne, who replaces R+B star Brandy on the show, said, "He's a great family guy... He's got nothing to be ashamed about."
