HASSELHOFF CHILD CUSTODY NOT AFFECTED BY RELAPSE
LATEST: DAVID HASSELHOFF will retain custody of his two daughters, despite his recent relapse in his bid to kick his alcohol problems.
The Baywatch star, 55, checked out of Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Tuesday (09Oct07), after admitting himself for alcohol poisoning earlier that day following a booze bender.
Before his hospital release, Hasselhoff's representative Judy Katz told TMZ.com, "David had a brief relapse and immediately recognised the importance of addressing it with the assistance of his doctors."
And the actor's lawyer, Melvin Goldsman, is adamant his temporary setback will have no repercussions on an earlier court order regarding the custody of teenagers Taylor-Ann, 17, and Hayley, 15.
He tells People.com, "I don't think (Tuesday's) incident will affect David's retaining primary physical custody of his daughters, which by the way, was the court's final custody arrangement."
Hasselhoff won full and physical custody of his two children following a bitter court battle with ex-wife Pamela Bach in June (07).
Goldsman also clarified the kids have been staying with their mother for the last five weeks because the actor had been away on business.
