HARTNETT ACCEPTS LIBEL DAMAGES OVER NEWSPAPER'S LIES
Hollywood actor JOSH HARTNETT has accepted libel damages of $30,000 (GBP20,000) from a British newspaper over an untrue story of a "sexual dalliance" with a mystery woman at a London hotel.
The report in the Daily Mirror alleged that the actor was captured on CCTV cameras with a woman in the library of hotel in the Soho area.
But the Pearl Harbour star angrily refuted the claims, and at a hearing in London on Thursday (11Dec08) the newspaper admitted the story was entirely untrue.
The star's lawyer Graham Atkins told London's High Court that the paper had accepted the allegations were "entirely false".
Hartnett, who has recently been starring in the London theatre production of hit Tom Cruise film Rain Man, will donate the money to charity.
