HARGITAY PAYS TRIBUTE TO HUNGARIAN ANIMATOR IN NEW FILM

LAW + ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT star MARISKA HARGITAY will get the chance to pay tribute to her Hungarian homeland when she narrates a new animated documentary. The actress, who portrays DET OLIVIA BENSON on the hit cop drama, will voice over the story of a cartoonist's escape from Hungary during the country's bloodiest revolution in FREEDOM DANCE. The 2006 Emmy Award winner is the daughter of Budapest-born bodybuilder MICKEY HARGITAY, who died after battling a long illness last week (14SEP06). The animated documentary tells the story of artist EDWARD HILBERT who, during his four months on the road to freedom with his new wife, kept a journal of cartoons detailing an adventure that included having his apartment hit by a blast from a Russian tank and a punishing ocean voyage across the Atlantic. Hilbert, who died last month (AUG06), also designed and illustrated hundreds of pictures used as the basis for the movie's unique animation. Freedom Dance will be released in November (06).
