HAPPY MONDAYS TOUR A FAMILY AFFAIR
Iconic British rockers HAPPY MONDAYS have made their current U.S. tour a family affair - frontman SHAUN RYDER drafted in his 22 year old nephew to play drums.
Jacob Ryder, whose dad is Ryder's brother and the band's former bassist Paul Ryder, was called up just days before the band's V Festival gig in the U.K. in August - after regular drummer and founding member Gary 'Gaz' Whelan injured himself.
Ryder Jr. dropped his job supplying fish and chip shops in his native Manchester, north England and embarked on a 20 city tour of North America.
Proud uncle Shaun says, "He had just two days to learn the music for the V Festival and just two weeks to prepare for this tour."
Jacob adds, "I was delivering potatoes to chippies in Salford and just playing music when I could, so this is great. I'd never even been to America before."
The tour means Jacob has been able to catch up with his dad, who now lives in Los Angeles - but the connection hasn't helped mend a long rift between the Ryder brothers.
Likening the pair to Oasis rockers Liam and Noel Gallagher, Shaun says, "We're brothers, we're different. Look how Oasis brothers are, right... brothers are always going to fall out."
